In December 2022 the European Commission proposed legislation for binding standards on the mandate, independence, resources, tasks and powers of Equality Bodies to engage in the prevention of discrimination and awareness raising activities, and deal with cases of discrimination/assist victims.

The two proposals adopted aim at ensuring a better application and enforcement of EU anti-discrimination rules. They lay down standards for Equality Bodies to ensure that people in all Member States enjoy a common minimum level of protection against discrimination.

Equinet, European Network of Equality Bodies, will join us in this online session and provide an update to ENAR members around the proposals. It will also be a chance to explore how civic society organisations can support developments regarding monitoring, reporting and equality data collection.
